As part of The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey's $1.2 billion Global Gateway expansion at Newark International Airport, General Bronze installed the dramatic curtain wall and metal panel system for two mirror image bridges connecting a new parking garage to the Continental Airlines main terminal.
The unitized Curtain wall has a unique, staggered horizontal module from bay to bay, supported by steel trusses reinforced with stainless steel cables. Erection was complicated by the fact that these bridges were installed over an active roadway. Through careful pre-construction planning and staging, General Bronze developed a unique crane and rigging program and installed over 200 curtain wall units in 3 weeks.
Composite metal panel fascias, parapets, column covers, soffits and interior claddings complete the sleek skin which evokes aviations early airplane designs.
