The new operations Control Center for Continental Airlines' Global Gateway at Newark International Airport posed an unusual logistics and design challenge to General Bronze.

The challenge: to design and install a 15-degree outward-sloping elliptically shaped unitized curtain wall 250 feet above a fully-operational airside tarmac at one of the nations busiest airports and Continental Airlines' worldwide hub.

General Bronze and our wall fabricator Sota Glazing created a high-performance installation-friendly design for this elliptical footprint. The curtain wall units are glazed with 1-5/16" Low-E coated laminated insulated glass which allowed for visual acuity and sound control.

The design incorporated an ingenious anchor and rigging approach which enabled us to complete the tower in only 14 days, shaving months off the original stick-type approach advocated by our competitors.
