The first phase of General Bronze’s three curtain wall contracts at Newark International Airport for Continental Airlines was the sweeping 900-ft. long/40-ft. tall glass wall enclosing a new pedestrian airside corridor overlooking the bustling airport.  General Bronze installed 500 5-ft.-x-13-ft. pre-assembled, pre-glazed curtain wall units onto a steel truss system while the terminal remained operational.

The curtain wall anchoring method allowed for structural steel tolerances – left, right, up, down, in, out – of plus/minus 1” twice the norm for standard curtain wall schemes.  At the top and bottom of the curtain wall, an aluminum composite panel and structural stud backup system was installed creating a coordinated air and water control design.
